Tonight at Mata Leao Combat Sports – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Portland Or I show a two surprisingly high percentage sweeps from the De la RIva/Koala guard position, a technical stand reaping ankle pick sweep, and a standing variation, where you end up with the single leg.
In the first variation I show am reaping (trapping) the ankle with my leg as I go into my technical stand.
By reaping the ankle am able to pull the oppponent’s leg from under him while putting pressure on his knee.
The second variation is where you end up with a single leg, and you take them down into the leg drag position, and pass to mount. Because of the great amount of pressure from the lapel grip, it is easy to elevate the leg for the single leg. In the video Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Portland Or | Standing Koala Guard Sweep – Pt.1 I show both variations to the sweep or takedown.
In the second video (Below) Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Portland Or | Standing Koala Guard Sweep – Pt.2 I go over a more DETAILED explanation on the initial grip of the lapel and the Leg Drag Positions, one of my all time favorite ways of passing my opponent’s guard and getting in to the mount position.
Enjoy the these videos and stay tuned for more coming next week from our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Portland Or academy Mata-Leao Combat Sports.
