McGregor Is Out For Revenge in Rematch Against Nate Diaz

Here are our predictions for the rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz being made the afternoon of UFC 202. As I am writing this, final preparations are being made for one of the biggest sports events of the decade. Within hours we will see the much awaited rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.  The economic, cultural, and popularity of the fight is on par with Holyfield Vs Tyson.  With that being said, these are the official predictions: if it goes any other way, we will be surprised.

Nate Diaz Submitted Conor McGregor Previously

It is my opinion that Nate Diaz is a superior fighter in all of the ways that matter. He is a belt above Conor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Diaz’s Jiu Jitsu game is simply better. Diaz is more comfortable on the ground and his guard seems stronger, not to mention that he submitted Conor in their last bout.

There is no doubt that Conor McGregor is an excellent striker. He is brilliant and creative, his kicks are articulate and devastating. His fighting style is antagonistic and bullying. He is a showboat fighter with a lot of attitude. Conor is very tough and has been a very dominant athlete in his weight class for a reason. However, when you pit him against a Diaz brother who is VERY durable and also has excellent striking and is more natural at 170 lbs…. this is where Conor ran into trouble. It wasn’t that he didn’t have a great first round- he did- but it was that Nate Diaz didn’t have a fight camp and was just using the first round to warm up and get loose.

Decision: Nate Diaz

It was likely to be pure ego which motivated Conor McGregor to fight Nate Diaz again at 170 pounds. At the most recent press conference and site of the bottle throwing massacre, McGregor stated that he wanted to “Right the wrong” and settle the score with Diaz on an even playing field. Our prediction is that the fight will go to decision Diaz, and that Diaz will ground and pound McGregor.

Conor McGregor is going to try to Kill Nate Diaz

I think that the fighters will spend the majority of the time boxing and exchanging, which is what the crowd wants to see. There is too much beef between them for them to NOT just stand up and exchange blows, so great is their mutual animosity. However, I think that Nate will want to finish the fight and submit McGregor again with Jiu Jitsu for the finish: that he will want to keep in his back pocket as the boxing winds down. Nate does NOT want to get knocked out by McGregor: McGregor is basically going to want to take Nate’s HEAD off in the first round. I see Nate trying to play is safe and use that reach advantage to ward off McGregor until it’s time to choke the Dublin Prima Donna out once again for another win.
